Nutty Professor II: The Klumps review : Outrageously funny

Originally published on Dooyoo.co.uk

I found this a very funny film. I had to wipe away tears of laughter at times and saw a few others do the same. If you fancy lots of good belly laughs, and are prepared to forfeit your right to a plausible plot, then this is a film you should enjoy.

Tom Cruise plays a pre-crime cop in 2054. The company that employs him has developed a system that can predict future murders and therefore provide an opportunity of preventing them. The system harnesses three genetically changed humans who have highly enhanced precognition skills. The three are kept sedated and partially submerged in a special solution and the images from their minds are displayed on the system for interpretation.

Gladiator review (2000)

This classic story of injustice and revenge is done almost to perfection and is one of my favourite movies. If you’re even remotely sensitive, you could find yourself fighting back some tears in one particularly touching scene.

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon review:

I was very surprised to find the cinema packed for a subtitled Chinese film. This is not your common-or-garden blockbuster, so it is great to see mainstream multiplex cinemas showing it. As I looked at the audience though, I couldn’t help wondering whether they all knew what they were letting themselves in for. Some of the reactions later on seemed to confirm my suspicion that many were expecting a martial arts action film.
