Dead mouse in loaf of bread

Don’t look at this picture if you are squeamish. I must admit it’s not a pleasant sight – and I think mice are quite cute (when alive and not decomposing). This must have been a nasty shock. The mouse was, “embedded in the base of the bread” so imagine if he hadn’t looked at the bottom and just started to use the loaf? He might have had half the tail before noticing..

Piano playing cat (Nora)

I just found one of those, “and finally” news items pioneered by a ITN on the BBC News website about a piano playing Cat named Nora who has found fame on the Internet. A Lithuanian conductor contacted her owners after seeing the video which led to him creating a four-minute piece for the Klaipeda chamber orchestra, which was performed with a video of Nora the piano playing cat in the background.

I must admit to have been enamoured by Nora’s subtle and gentle style. I also found it very inspiring :-)

Butterfly

One day I sat alone
when it settled on my arm
a lovely little butterfly
someone had done it harm

It had a damaged wing
which was very badly frayed
it made me feel quite special
I was happy when it stayed

Although it had been damaged
(to everybody’s eye)
it was still a very valid
and delightful butterfly

I seemed to make it happy
it appeared to feel secure
but a sudden movement by me
and it was there no more

Eventually it came again
my fondness for it grew
But when I tried to touch it
up in the air it flew

Do it?

Don’t spend the rest of your life waist deep in cold water
It’s no excuse to say, that if you swim over to another shore
then you’ll be wetter than you were before.
For after reaching dry land, maybe you will find
that you will soon be wet no more

In a nutshell

We have a precious gift
to give at our discretion
enough for all we meet
a truly great possession
No matter who we give it to
We always have some left
but if we give it no one
it’s we that are bereft
